Attractions near BC Place
Located in downtown Vancouver, the BC Place Stadium is one of the major attractions of the city. This multipurpose indoor arena can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators. In recent times, this great stadium was placed on the international spotlight as it hosted the 2010 winter Olympics. Currently, BC Place is the home ground for professional teams BC Lions (Football) and Vancouver Whitecaps (Soccer.)
For the 2010-2011 season, BC Place will be temporary closed due to major renovations and expansion. This has forced locals as well as tourists to enjoy other nearby attractions. Since BC Place is located at the heart of the downtown district, there are plenty of other attractions that are only within a few blocks of this great venue.
On Hamilton Street, which is only three blocks away from BC Place, visitors could enjoy great entertainment at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Vancouver Playhouse. These theaters offer great performances ranging from Broadway hits and musicals to dance and stand up comedy. Another great attraction on Hamilton Street is the Vancouver Public Library. Although taking books out is not possible, visitors could still sit down, relax and read on site.
Located right across BC Place is General Motors Place, another great indoor arena. This is where visitors could watch the Vancouver Canucks compete against other NHL teams. Additionally, there aren't any shortages of music concerts at the GM Place. From pop artists and rappers to rock bands, this venue sells out quickly when world famous music artists perform here.
Another notable attraction near BC Place is Science World. Located along False Creek and Ocean Street, this eclectic waterfront facility is clearly visible from BC Place. Visitors can enjoy a variety of exhibits, interactive programs, and multimedia presentations at two theaters. Science World is a family friendly attraction that will stimulate the minds of youngsters while offering plenty of fun. There are also unique gift shops, which sell plenty of souvenirs to bring back home.
